He said: A man from Najd came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with disheveled hair. We could hear his whispering, but we could not understand anything because he was far away. He even came very close to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He asked about Islam (what is Islam?). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied: To pray five prayers a day and a night. The man said: Is there any other prayer that is obligatory upon me? He said: No. But you can pray the voluntary prayers. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Fast the month of Ramadan. The man said: Is there any other fast that is obligatory upon me? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: No. But you can fast as you wish. The narrator said, Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mentioned Zakat. The man said, "Is there any other charity that is obligatory upon me?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "No, but I have the option of giving it voluntarily." Then the man left saying this, "By Allah, I will neither add to it nor reduce it." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "If the man is telling the truth, then he has succeeded (from Hell). [1]
